WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — DC Police arrested Johnathan Frederick Dawkins in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred May.
Police took the 30-year-old into custody on Thursday and charged him with second-degree murder.
Police say surveillance video played an important role in identifying the suspect.
Dawkins is accused of fatally stabbing Dwayne Edward Brisbon in the early morning hours of May 1.
The stabbing occurred on the 500 block of Florida Avenue in northwest Washington. Police say Brisbon was stabbed when he tried to come to the defense of someone who was involved in an argument. He got back in his car after being stabbed, but wound up crashing the vehicle and later died at a hospital from his stab wound.
It was not immediately clear if Dawkins had a lawyer.
