FALLS CHURCH, Va. (CBSDC) — Authorities confirmed the death of 19-year-old Dylan Shawn Cooper was the result of the Derecho storm that ripped through the region on June 29.

Fairfax County Police say they found Cooper unconscious in the vicinity of downed power lines on Haycock Road around 11 p.m. He died Sunday July 15 as a result of the injuries sustained when the lines came down.

The office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined his cause of death to be accidental electrocution.

Cooper, who lived in the 2100 block of Haycock Road in Falls Church, is the third person confirmed to have died as a result of the Derecho.

The storm crippled the Washington region, leaving hundreds of thousands of customers without power, some for more than a week.
