WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Metro is allowing riders to carry and drink water on its trains and buses due to the heat advisory in effect in the Washington region.

Only water will be permitted aboard the transit system. Metro’s ban on all other drinks and food remains in effect.

Earlier Tuesday the transit system implemented speed restrictions on its above ground trains due to the triple-digit temperatures due to concern of rails developing heat kinks.
