Former Dream Team member and two-time NCAA champion, Christian Laettner joined the Junkies on Monday and talked about his Olympic and collegiate experience.

Laettner who is perhaps the greatest college basketball player of all-time, went to four Final Four while at Duke, but was also the only college player on the 1992 Dream Team that won gold in Barcelona.

Many sports fans think Laettner must have been an outcast on the team with 11 Hall of Famers, but he said it wasn’t hard to fit it. “It wasn’t tough at all. I’ve said in the past, even though I’ve won championships my junior and senior year at Duke, my most fun year was my freshman year. Everything was new, you’re at the bottom of the ladder, you’re the least important person on the team.” When I had to sit in on the Dream Team…when no one expects anything from me…it was really easy to fit in.”

Laettner also said Charles Barkley and Chris Mullen treated him the best on the team, from the very beginning. Once they had their first practice and he didn’t complain about hard fouls and hazing, the rest of the squad opened up to him. Obviously, Jordan was the hardest on him from a basketball standpoint.
