Capitals center Mike Ribeiro spoke to the media for the first time since being traded June 22nd from the Dallas Stars to the Washington Capitals.

“I’m glad that I’m here and I have a chance to win,” Ribeiro said.  “I have a chance to win a cup.”

Ribeiro had a big smile on his face when asked if he was excited to be playing with Alex Ovechkin and says it was the first thing that crossed his mind when he got traded.

“Hopefully I can be that piece that helped this team go farther in the playoffs and hopefully win the cup.”

He talked about how he likes playing with right handed shots and how he is excited for the power play with Mike Green and Ovechkin both having right handed shots.
