VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) — President Barack Obama made an appeal to military families and veterans during a campaign stop to one of Virginia’s largest military communities.
Obama spoke to hundreds at Green Run High School in Virginia Beach on Friday. Virginia Beach is home to the Navy’s East Coast Navy SEAL teams as well as the Navy’s master jet base on the East Coast. Obama then traveled to Hampton for a rally at Phoebus High School. Hampton is home to Langley Air Force Base.
In Virginia Beach, a Navy veteran and wife introduced Obama. While Obama’s speech primarily focused on his economic policies, he also touted that he kept his campaign promise to end the war in Iraq. He also spoke about the importance of taking care of veterans when they return home.
