BRANDYWINE, Md. (CBSDC) – Prince George’s County Police have made an arrest in a Thursday murder that took place in Brandywine.

Police arrested 57-year-old Francis Washington, Jr. for the murder of 69-year-old Thomas Francis Washington in Brandywine, Maryland.

Patrol officers responded to a shooting at the 11100 block of Cross Road Trail on Thursday, July 12 around 4:32 p.m. Officers found the victim inside the home suffering from a gunshot wound upon arrival. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene and the suspect was then taken into custody.

A police investigation revealed the incident stemmed from a domestic-related dispute over a spare tire. The victim, Thomas Washington, and the suspect, Francis Washington were cousins.

Police arrested Francis Washington, Jr. and charged him with first degree murder, and he has since been remanded to the Department of Corrections on a no bond status.
