GREENBELT, Md. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say nine people have been indicted on charges of plotting to distribute 2,200 pounds of marijuana.
The indictment, returned Monday and unsealed Wednesday, alleges a married couple from Arizona and seven Maryland residents transported marijuana between the two states. They are also alleged to have laundered the proceeds totaling $950,000.
The accused each face a maximum sentence of life in prison. Prosecutors are also seeking forfeiture of the $950,000.
