CHESAPEAKE CITY, Md. (AP) — Authorities in Maryland say a Pennsylvania man has drowned after falling overboard while cleaning his boat at a yacht basin.
Natural Resources Police say 80-year-old James Brior fell into the Bohemia River in Chesapeake City on Tuesday afternoon. It happened at the Two Rivers Yacht Basin while Brior and his wife were cleaning their boat.
Police say Brior’s wife threw a life jacket and a line to him. But Brior, who police say was not wearing a life jacket, was unable to reach them and slipped under the surface of the water.
He was pulled out about 10 minutes later and taken to Union Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy is being performed on Wednesday.
