The Washington Capitals announced today that they have signed forward Wojtek Wolski to a one-year, $600,000 deal. Wolski, 26, is six feet, three inches tall, 215 pounds, and is known as a shootout specialist. With Colorado during the 2008-09 season, Wolski scored on 10 of 12 shootout attempts.
Wolski, who has played in 424 NHL regular season games for four teams, had four goals and eight assists in 31 regular season games split between the New York Rangers and Florida Panthers last season and had sports hernia surgery earlier in the season. Wolski also played in six games for the AHL Connecticut Whale last year.
Wolski, who was the 21st overall pick in the 2004 NHL entry draft, has 95 career regular season goals with 163 assists and a +16 rating. Wolski has played in 29 playoff games and has eight goals and nine assists in the postseason. Wolski also played in two playoff games for the Panthers last season, but was held scoreless.
His best season was in 2006-07 when he had 22 goals, 28 assists in 76 games for the Colorado Avalanche.
