MOUNT VERNON, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — Authorities say Nicholas Allen Kaelber is dead after a shootout with police in Fairfax County.
Police say it happened late Sunday night in Mount Vernon when officers approached two men they thought were acting suspiciously.
Police say the 21-year-old Kaelber, who lived in the 2800 block of Wakewater Way in Woodbridge, then ran away, and fired shots at the officers during a struggle that followed. Authorities say an officer then returned fire and shot the man, who was pronounced dead at Mount Vernon Hospital. The man’s name wasn’t immediately released.
None of the officers was injured, and police say they’re still looking for a second man.
