WASHINGTON (AP) — More than 10,000 residents in the mid-Atlantic region still remain without power more than a week after deadly summer storms struck the area.
By Saturday morning, Baltimore Gas and Electric was reporting the most outages. The utility says nearly 9,400 customers are without power, primarily in Baltimore City and Baltimore County. Carroll County has more than 1,800 outages.
In the Washington area, Pepco says it’s still working to restore power to nearly 1,200 customers in Montgomery County and another 600 in the District of Columbia. It says all customers in Prince George’s County have had power restored.
Pepco says the extreme heat and last week’s storm damage are stressing the electrical system’s capabilities. The utility is advising customers to conserve electricity.
In northern Virginia, Dominion Power is reporting 312 outages.
