A combination of record-high temperatures and temperatures continuing to climb through the weekend has local cooling centers working overtime. Whether you are still without power or desperately just in need of a place to cool off, there is likely a cooling center for you nearby.

Here’s a list of the cooling centers available to Northern Virginia residents:

Alexandria City – Chinquapin

Alexandria City – Durant Arts Center 9 – 10, Sat closed

Alexandria City – William Ramsay Rec Center 9 – 9, Sat 9 – 6

Alexandria City – Patrick Henry Rec Center 9 -9, Sat. closed

Alexandria City – Nannie Lee Memorial Rec Center 9 – 9, Sat closed

Alexandria City – Mount Vernon Rec Center 9-9, Sat 9 – 6

Alexandria City – Charles Houston Rec Center 9 -9 , sat 9 – 6

Alexandria City – Cora Kelly 9-9, Sat 9 – 6

Alexandria City – Charles Barrett Rec Center 9-6 closed Sat

Arlington County – Central Library – 11 am – 9 pm

Fairfax City – Sherwood Center – 10 am – 8 pm (July 5 & 6)

Falls Church – Community Center, 223 Little Falls Street – until 7 pm
