Woman, 71, Killed In Apartment Fire In D.C.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities are investigating an apartment fire that killed a 71-year-old woman in southeast Washington.
Firefighters were called to the blaze in the 1600 block of 17th Street about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, and arrived to find the fourth-floor home consumed by flames.
Fire officials say Mildred Harrison was killed in the fire.
The fourth floor of the apartment building was evacuated while firefighters extinguished the flames. No other injuries were reported.
