Power Outages Lead To More Government And School Closings

The federal government went back to work Tuesday, but plenty of public schools are still without power. Also, some government agencies are giving their employees to work from home. See the full list of government and school closings below:

GOVERNMENT

  • THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT:  OPEN TODAY, EMPLOYEES HAVE THE OPTION FOR UNSCHEDULED LEAVE OR UNSCHEDULED TELEWORK.
  • ALEXANDRIA CITY GOVERNMENT-UNSCHEDULED LEAVE
  • FAIRFAX COUNTY GOVERNMENT: UNSCHEDULED LEAVE
  • MONTGOMERY COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT: CLOSED
  • NASA/GODDARD: CODE BLUE

COLLEGES

  • MONTGOMERY COLLEGE: CLOSED
  • BALTIMORE CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE: CLOSED

PUBLIC SCHOOLS

  • MONTGOMERY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS & D.C. PUBLIC SCHOOLS: CLOSED TODAY
  • HOWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS, PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY SCHOOLS, FAIRFAX COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS: THERE ARE NUMEROUS SCHOOLS THROUGH EACH COUNTY THAT STILL HAVE NO POWER AND WILL BE CLOSED TODAY.

In non-storm related postponement news, Live Nation has announced that Tuesday’s Aerosmith concert at Jiffy Lube Live has been rescheduled for Aug. 12. Vocalist Steven Tyler is to refrain from performing for “vocal rest,” per doctor’s orders. Tickets for July 3 will be honored on the new date.
