ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Howard County Police have released the mugshot Bruce Lawrence May, the man charged with assault for using a slingshot to fire glass marbles at a speed camera van.
The 50-year-old May of Ellicott City was arrested Tuesday. He was also charged with destruction of property and reckless endangerment. He was released on $3,000 bond.
A speed camera van operator was in the vehicle on Route 144 at Tridelphia Road, near Manor Woods Elementary School around 5 p.m. Tuesday, when they heard something strike the side of the van. The operator looked and saw a gray 2005 Chrysler Town and County minivan passing by.

The same minivan then passed the speeding camera van again and the operator saw the driver with a sling shot firing a projectile at the van. It was later determined the projectiles were glass marbles.
Police say about 5 p.m. Tuesday, the van was near Manor Woods Elementary School when the operator heard something hit the side of the vehicle. The operator saw a minivan pass and saw the driver with a slingshot fire another projectile at the speed camera van.
Police say that May has received two speed camera violations recently.
