RICHMOND, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli plans to weigh in with his views after the U.S. Supreme Court rules on President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul.
The ruling is expected Thursday, and Cuccinelli has announced plans for a news conference after he examines the decision.
Cuccinelli attended the Supreme Court’s arguments in the case in March. He believes the law’s requirement that individuals buy health insurance or pay a penalty is unconstitutional. That’s a view shared by the 26 states involved in the Supreme Court case.
Cuccinelli filed a separate lawsuit against the law, but a federal judge’s ruling in his favor was overturned when a federal appeals court ruled that Virginia lacked legal standing to challenge the law.
The ruling is supposed to be released sometime after 10 a.m.
