RICHMOND, Va. (CBSDC) - Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell released a statement immediately following the Supreme Court’s decision to condemning their decision to uphold the individual insurance requirement.
“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is extremely disappointing for Virginia and for America,” says McDonnell.
According to the statement, Virginia has taken steps to identify the necessary resources and issues to be addressed that will ensure Virginia implements the law in the most effective and least costly way possible.
Despite his disagreements with the decision to uphold the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, McDonnell says the state’s healthcare leaders will work to develop the best possible system to meet the healthcare needs of its citizens.
Gov. McDonnell says the law will create a “costly and cumbersome” system that will limit the nation’s ability to recover from its economic hardships.
“It remains my hope that we will elect a new President and Senate so that the existing law will be repealed and states will be given the freedom they need to implement healthcare solutions that work best for their citizens.”
