WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — An adult camp counselor and two young children were shot and wounded in southeast Washington, but police believe they were caught in the crossfire and weren’t the intended targets of the shooting.
Police say the shooting was reported around noon Monday in the 1900 block of Savannah Street. Police say the victims were on their way to a swimming pool.
The injuries are all non-life-threatening, and the shooter remains at large. The circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
Police say the victims included a 7-year-old boy and an 8-year-old boy and an adult counselor. Their names weren’t immediately released.
