Suspect Killed Following Shootout With Metro Transit Police Detective In Lanham

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A man was shot and killed by a Metro Transit Police Detective Wednesday afternoon in Lanham.

The detective was conducting an investigation in the 7100 block of Lory Lane around 12:30 p.m. when the fatal shots were fired.

Authorities wanted to question the man about an abduction that occurred on Sunday at the Minnesota Ave. Metro Station according to ABC 7.

The suspect became combative when the detective began questioning him. He fired several rounds at the detective who returned fire. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The detective was not injured in the shooting. He has been placed on routine administrative duty pending the conclusion of the investigation.
