Wednesday on The Sports Junkies, Wade Davis, a former NFL player who recently announced his homosexuality, joined the show and shared his experiences of coming out of to his friends and former teammates.
Davis spent time with the Redskins, Titans and Seahawks even though he never played in a game.
Davis, 34, told Nelson of the friendships he had with Jevon Kearse and Samari Rolle in Tennessee years ago, but he kept his secret in a league that has never had an openly gay player.
Eric Bickel believes it’s going to take a star player like a quarterback to get past the notion that a player can’t come out as a homosexual while active because of possible repercussions in the locker room and amongst fans.
