PASADENA, Md. (AP) — Anne Arundel County police say two Pasadena teenagers have been charged with throwing a homemade bomb at a 6-year-old girl on a playground.
Police say they were called to a school on Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena about 6:30 p.m. Monday for reports of an explosion. The girl was not hurt.
Authorities say they found two boys, ages 13 and 15, with plastic bottles and household chemicals on the bleachers at Sunset Elementary School. Police say the teens have been charged, as juveniles, with felony reckless endangerment and possession, distribution and manufacturing of a destructive device.
Officials say they’ve seen a rise in bombs made by teenagers. County fire officials have seen six such cases so far this year; there were 28 cases last year.
