WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Occupy D.C. is moving out of McPherson Square in Washington.

The group made the decision to leave Sunday and tore down some tents then. Other remnants were torn down Monday.

The group began camping at the park in October, but in February the U.S. Park Police began strictly enforcing no camping regulations which initially led to a tense confrontation between the two sides.


The Park Service had allowed demonstrators to maintain tents in the park as long as protesters weren’t camping there.

An official goodbye ceremony is planned for the weekend. The group is now operating out of offices at 16th and L streets.
