WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has invited all 17 female senators and former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor to a dinner party celebrating the engagement of Sen. Susan Collins of Maine.

Collins’ engagement to veteran political aide and consultant Thomas Daffron was announced in February. The two plan to wed this summer in Maine.

Kevin Kelley, spokesman for Collins, said the dinner party was being held Monday evening at Clinton’s home. Kelley had no additional details.

Collins, first elected to the U.S. Senate in 1996, has said the wedding will be private. She and Daffron have been dating for more than two years. He’s a former chief of staff to Sen. William Cohen of Maine and several other senators, and serves as chief operating officer of Jefferson Consulting Group.

The couple purchased a 4-bedroom residence in Capitol Hill North last year.
