ALEXANDRIA, Va. (CBSDC) — A water main break in Alexandria shut down a portion of Telegraph Road for hours Friday morning.
The road was closed in both directions between Wilton Road and Sharon Chapel Road, snarling traffic during the morning rush hour.
Fairfax Water tells All-News 99.1 WNEW that the repairs, which began overnight, were much more difficult than they originally anticipated. As such they also took a lot longer to complete than officials expected.
Repairs were completed and the street was reopened shortly before 10 a.m.
Approximately 50 locations were without water following the break.
