HYATTSVILLE, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Prince George’s County police say a shoeless toddler was found wandering alone in a neighborhood near FedEx Field.
Police say officers found the boy after a resident called to report that a child was walking by himself in the 600 block of Garrett A. Morgan Boulevard in the Hyattsville area about 5:30 p.m. Thursday. Cpl. Clinton Copeland, a police spokesman, says the caller told police the boy was wearing a blue shirt and blue jeans, and was holding a plate of food.
Police took the boy to a hospital for an evaluation and notified the county’s child protective services. He appeared to be unharmed.
Authorities used a canine to help track where the boy cam from. Police found one of the child’s parents about 9:45 p.m. Copeland says the parents did not immediately know how the child left home alone.
