SILVER SPRING, Md. (CBSDC) — In a bizarre coincidence, two cars plowed into two building is separate unrelated incidents just 8 minutes apart Friday morning in Montgomery County.
Police say an SUV ran into a Popeyes Restaurant located 8641 16th St. in Silver Spring at 10:50 a.m.
The restaurant remains closed as building engineers assess the damage. The glass front of the location was shattered.
No injuries were reported in this incident.

At 10:58 a.m. police responded to the showroom at the Fitzgerald Auto Mall located at 903 N. Frederick Ave. in Gaithersburg. Authorities say a car drove into the building where their Hyundai and Subaru vehicles are located.
The accident occurred when a customer using loaner car hit the gas instead of the brake went through the showroom window. Police describe it as driver error.
