GLEN BURNIE, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — An employee of a convenience store contacted police after he says he absent-mindedly drove off with a bag of money on the roof of his car. The money was supposed to be deposited in the bank.
Troopers say the man was on his way to make a bank deposit about 5:45 a.m. Thursday in Glen Burnie. He told police he put the bank bag on top of his SUV and forgot to take it down before pulling off.
The bag — light red and marked “7-11” — was lost along northbound Interstate 97 and Route 100.
A trooper investigating the incident passed through the area a short time later, but the bank bag was apparently already gone.
Maryland State Police won’t say how much money was lost, but do say it was a large amount of cash.
Authorities are asking for the public’s helping in finding a large amount of cash that was lost when a man put a bag containing the money on top of his vehicle and drove off.
Anyone with information or who may have recovered some of the cash should contact the state police Glen Burnie barracks.
