CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (CBSDC) — A young man was shot to death Tuesday Afternoon in Capitol Heights and police believe he was the intended target.

Prince George’s County Police say the shooting occurred shortly before 2 p.m. near the intersection of Emo St. and Larchmont Ave.

Authorities say multiple gunshots were heard in the area.

Family members of the victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene, confirm he was 19 years old. Police earlier gave a rough estimate he was between 19 and 25 years old.

Following the shooting police were searching for a blue Volkswagen Passat that was seeing fleeing the area. However, it is unclear whether it is in any way connected to the case.

A motive and suspect are not yet known in the case.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
