WOODBRIDGE, Va. (CBSDC) — Police arrested a Woodbridge woman after a maintenance man discovered a 1-year-old boy had been left alone inside an apartment last week.

Police say 23-year-old Alba Xiomara Palacios Guzman, of the 1400 block of Bayside Ave., left the child alone for approximately 50 minutes last Friday.

After the worker, who was performing routine maintenance on the apartment, discovered the child he called police. When Palacios Guzman returned to the apartment authorities were at the residence.

Police say the woman is related the child and was supposed to be watching him.

The child, who is now in custody of ofter family members, was not injured.

Palacios Guzman was charged with child neglect and is being held on $1,500 secured bond.
