BOSTON (CBS) – Before the Celtics took Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals Sunday night, evening the series at two games apiece, point guard Rajon Rondo took a shot at the Miami Heat.
In his halftime interview with ESPN sideline reporter Doris Burke, Rondo was asked what holes the Celtics were exploiting.
“Them complaining and crying to the referees in transition,” Rondo replied.
When the final buzzer sounded on the 93-91 overtime win for the Celtics, Rondo was again interviewed by Burke, who asked if he expected an repercussions for his comments.
“What I said was true,” he said. “I don’t take back what I said. That’s what it is.”
Rondo finished the game with 15 points, 15 assists and five rebounds. Miami was called for 13 fouls in the first half and 28 for the game, with Boston whistled for 30. Both Paul Pierce and Lebron James fouled out in overtime.
Game 5 of the series is Tuesday night in Miami.
