ANNAPOLIS, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — A panel on expanding gambling will be holding its first meeting on Friday in Annapolis.
The Work Group to Consider Gaming Expansion’s meeting will include presentations from current and prospective casino licensees.
The panel is studying issues related to a potential expansion of gambling to include table games like blackjack. The panel, which includes state lawmakers, also will be weighing the potential of allowing a casino in Prince George’s County.
The work group is working on coming up with some ideas for a special session in July. If lawmakers pass gambling measures, they would go on the ballot for voters to consider.
Lawmakers returned to Annapolis for another special session last month to finalize the state’s budget.
