ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) — Motorists are being advised to avoid a portion of the Capital Beltway near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge as a major repaving project gets under way.
As part of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project, thru lanes of the beltway’s inner loop — also designated as I-95 and I-495 South — will be reduced to one lane between the bridge and Telegraph Road beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday. A temporary second local lane will be opened in the work zone to ease traffic congestion.
The work is expected to last until 5 a.m. Monday, and to cause traffic problems throughout the weekend in Maryland and Virginia.
Drivers are urged to use the inner loop local lanes on Friday.
