WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say a man on a Capital Bikeshare bike punched a pedestrian in the face and snatched her iPhone away on a busy Capitol Hill street.
John Lisle, a spokesman for the D.C. Department of Transportation, says he believes it’s the first time one of the red rented bikes has been used in the commission of a violent crime.
The Washington Post reports the incident happened while the victim was talking on the phone in the 700 block of East Capitol Street in southeast Washington about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Police say the suspect is a man in his 30s, and that he was wearing black shorts and a light-blue shirt with a white shirt underneath.
