WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say eight D.C. firefighters were taken to a clinic after they complained of feeling light-headed or dizzy hours after extinguishing an apartment fire.
Battalion Chief Brian K. Lee says the firefighters work at a station in the 1300 block of Florida Avenue in northeast Washington. Lee says they complained of the symptoms while at the station about 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The firefighters told officials that they had battled a fire in the 3700 block of Hayes Street earlier in the day. It’s not clear what may have caused the firefighters to fall ill.
The fire displaced six families. Its cause is under investigation.
