SPRINGFIELD, Va. (AP) — Fairfax County Police say an officer fatally shot a man wanted on child pornography charges after the man threatened police with a sword.
Police say the shooting happened Saturday night inside an apartment in Springfield. Police said they were told the suspect was hiding in a bedroom.
Police said the officers repeatedly demanded the man surrender before shooting him. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Police did not identify the suspect but said he eluded authorities Friday after giving police a false name. The investigation is ongoing.
