Welcome to Preakness weekend! Here are few events to partake in before heading back to that yucky office on Monday.

SATURDAY

Preakness Day and InField Fest

If coming out to the 137th Preakness Stakes isn’t enough of a great experience, enjoy the Preakness InfieldFest just before the race begins with awesome food and live music. Come out to Pimlico Race course in Baltimore to experience Preakness Day, the event will be going on all afternoon.

Yoga on the Mall

Whether you’re a beginner or an expert, come out to Yoga on the Mall to join hundreds of other yoga enthusiasts at the Sylvan stage by the Washington Monument for some free outdoor yoga. Families are welcome and the workout ends at 4:30 p.m.

The Benefits of Chocolate

Finally, a reason to eat chocolate that won’t make you feel guilty! The Benefits of Chocolate Gala for the Stroke Comeback Center will wine and dine you with chocolate and jazz at a private estate, which will also be up for auction at the event. The benefit begins at 6:30 p.m. in McLean.

Joint Service Open House and Air Show

Love airplanes? The Joint Service Open House and Air Show, featuring the Blue Angels, is today! So make your way out to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland, the event is free. The event ends at 6 p.m.

Strut Your Mutt Dog Parade and Festival

Bring your dog out to the Strut your Mutt Dog Parade and Festival. With everything from a dog parade to contests and animal rescue groups, it will be a day of fun for you and your four-legged friend. The event is in Bethesda at Veteran’s Park and ends at 1:30 p.m.

Strawberry Jubilee

If you love strawberry shortcake, strawberry pies and strawberry milkshakes, The Strawberry Jubilee starts today. Come out and pick your own strawberries at Great Country Farms in Virginia. You’ll have until 6 p.m. to pack your crate with strawberries. And if you’re looking for more locations to satisfy your strawberry cravings, check out these strawberry farms!

Gaithersburg Book Festival

Some of the nation’s best-selling authors come together today for the Gaithersburg Book Festival in Maryland. Award winning authors will be discussing their work, and interactive writing workshops will be offered. Catch it all until 6 p.m.

Spring Garden Day

Looking for something rare and unusual? Spring Garden Day in Alexandria will have over 40 vendors selling exotic plants to satisfy your spring needs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

DC Dragon Boat Festival

The DC Dragon Boat Festival will give you a taste of culture as you watch 64 teams race to the finish line. It all kicks off this afternoon at Thompson Boat Center in Georgetown. The race begins at 9 a.m. but come out all day for plenty of fun.

International Gem and Jewelry Show

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend at the International Gem and Jewelry Show in Rockville, Maryland. Come find something glamorous and meet professional jewelers from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SUNDAY

UNIQUE All Star Cheerleading Try-Outs

Bring the little ones out for the UNIQUE All Star Cheerleading Tryouts! The state Champion team is holding auditions for ages 5 to 18. All levels of skill are welcome. Tryouts are 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Emilia’s Acro Gym in Columbia, Md.

Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival

Over 200 vendors will fill the streets for the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival. There will be plenty to do, see and taste. Admission is free. Come out to Reston for an afternoon of entertainment with the family.

Join parents against SUDC, or Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood as they take part in the 4th Annual Tommy’s Run for a Reason 5k Run. There will also be a BBQ and silent auction. So head out to Sterling, Virginia, registration begins at 9 a.m. but the event will be going on all afternoon.

McLean Day

McLean Day is back, and it’s all about the family. Join the community as they enjoy all kinds of entertainment and food. The celebration kicks off in McLean, Virginia 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Lewinsville Park.

Free Military Passes

It’s always an honor to celebrate our military men and women and today, the National Park Service will be issuing an annual pass that will allow them to enjoy free admission to all 397 national parks. You can pick up the pass in Fort Washington Park, or any National Park. Visit the website for more details and a list of the national parks.
