WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — Artomatic 2012 kicks off Friday night.

The five-week, indoor, 11-story art festival features 1,100 artists who converted a 380,000 square feet old office building slated for demolition into a large gallery filled with visual art, music, performances, films and fashion.

Workshops, tours, seminars and other events are also planned throughout the event, which is free to the public.

Artomatic’s event director, Barry Schmetter, gave All-News 99.1 WNEW’s Kimberly Suiters a tour.
