ROCKVILLE, Md. (CBSDC) — A woman died following a traffic accident Wednesday morning in Rockville.

Police say 61-year-old Patricia Greer Parks rear-ended another car as it slowed for traffic in front of her at the intersection of Rockville Pike and Old Georgetown Road around 7:35 a.m.

When officers arrived on the scene they found Parks outside of her 2000 Chrysler Sebring surveying the situation. The driver of the other vehicle, a 2005 Ford Taurus, was also out of her vehicle.

While officers were speaking with the drivers, Parks began to complain of pain and an ambulance was called to the location. Parks, who lived in the 18200 block of Rolling Meadow Way in Olney, lost consciousness en route to the hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Ford Taurus has been identified as 41-year-old Ellen Margaret Girdharry of the 500 block of Lincoln Street in Rockville.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Police ask anyone who may have witnessed the fatal collision to call 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.
