ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins unveiled their new Nike 80th Anniversary uniforms Thursday night at the new indoor practice facility in Ashburn.
Linebackers Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan served as the team models for the new uniforms that have a classic feel.
The look was patterned off the team’s attire from 1937 when the team moved from Boston to Washington.
A patch on the shoulder of the uniform is a replica of one worn early in the team’s history.
Although the uniform has a classic feel, the Nike manufactured throwbacks utilize the latest technology, including lightweight padding integrated directly into the crucial “hit zones” in the base layer of the uniforms.
The jersey also takes full advantage of new innovations include integrating Flywire technology into the neckline which reduces weight and provides a tighter fit over pads. The design offers players a better range of motion.
