MANASSAS, Va. (CBSDC) — A police officer from Fairfax County was relieved of his duties and has been charged in connection with a sexual assault that occurred on in 2009.
James Craig Summers allegedly sexually assaulted a 42-year-old woman at her home in Manassas between Sept. 1 and Oct. 31, 2009. Summers and the woman were involved in a relationship according to multiple reports.
Police have charged the 55-year-old former officer with forcible sodomy.
Summers, who lives in Burke, had been a patrol officer in the Reston District for five years.
He is being held without bond and is due in court on July 18.
