ALEXANDRIA (CBSDC) — An Alexandria woman has been arrested in connection with the fatal hit and run of 21-year-old Shelinda Delores Arrington in Mount Vernon on May 4.
Authorities initially suspected Arrington’s death was a result of an incident of road rage. Police say she exited her own vehicle, at which point she was fatally struck.
Detectives from the Fairfax County Police Department identified 32-year-old Gloria Alfreda McMillan, of 7238 John Paul Drive in Alexandria, as the driver of the vehicle that struck Arrington. She has been charged with felony hit and run.
In addition, police have seized McMillan’s black, 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer that is suspected of being involved in incident. The vehicle was located in Southwest Washington, D.C.
A preliminary investigation into the May 4 incident showed Arrington exited her vehicle and got into an altercation of some sort with McMillian. It was around that time Arrington was fatally struck.
Fairfax County Police extended a debt of gratitude to the Metropolitan Police Department, as well as the public, for their assistance in this investigation.
