WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — A friend and business associate of a Rockville man kidnapped in Pakistan last year says he was grateful to view a video released by al-Qaida that showed Warren Weinstein alive and in apparent good health.
Mike Redwood of Somerset, England, tells The Associated Press that he watched the video Monday morning. He says Weinstein is “more capable of withstanding these circumstances” than anybody else he knows. But Redwood says it’s still depressing to see Weinstein in captivity.
Redwood says Weinstein spoke in “measured tones” that indicated he knows what he’s doing.
Weinstein lives in Rockville and works for J.E. Austin Associates Inc., an international-development firm based in Arlington off of Wilson Boulevard.
