ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins signed their sixth round draft picks as well as five college free agents at the conclusion of their rookie minicamp, which was highlighted by Mike Shanahan’s announcement that Robert Griffin III would be the team’s starting quarterback.
The Redskins announced the signings of running back Alfred Morris (No. 173 overall) and tackle Tom Compton (No. 193 overall) Sunday afternoon. The duo became the fourth and fifth of the team’s nine draft picks to sign their first NFL contracts.
Morris, 5-foot-10 and 215 pounds, appeared in 47 games with 36 starts for Florida Atlantic. He rushed for 3,529 yards on 27 touchdowns while in college.
Compton, 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, started in all 43 games he appeared in while at South Dakota.
