MERRIFIELD, Va. (AP) — One of northern Virginia’s busiest intersections will close this weekend as part of a long-running construction project.
The Virginia Department of Transportation will close the intersection of Lee Highway and Gallows Road in Merrifield at 9 p.m. Friday for repaving work. It is not expected to re-open until Sunday afternoon.
All businesses in the area will remain accessible. Detours will be in place to circumvent the intersection.
Plans to improve the intersection have been in the works for years, and the neighborhood is in the midst of a significant redevelopment project.
