Coast Guard Finds No Sign Of Overturned Boat In D.C., Despite Report

WASHINGTON (AP) — Authorities say they’ve found no evidence of an overturned boat in the Potomac River.

Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Collin Snovell says a report of an overturned craft came in around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday. He says the call came in from a driver on the George Washington Parkway who may have seen a piece of debris that resembled a boat.

The Coast Guard searched the area for nearly two hours before calling off the mission.

D.C. Fire Department personnel also conducted an initial search and were not called back.
