FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) — An Army private accused of engineering the biggest leak of government secrets in U.S. history is asking a military judge to dismiss all charges.
Oral arguments on Pfc. Bradley Manning’s dismissal motion are scheduled at a pretrial hearing starting Tuesday at Fort Meade.
Manning is charged with causing hundreds of thousands of classified war documents and diplomatic cables to be published on the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks. His trial hasn’t been scheduled.
The defense claims military prosecutors have failed their duty to hand over a broad range of documents potentially helpful to the defense.
Rather than restart the discovery process that began two years ago, the defense is asking the judge to dismiss the case.
