Washington Redskins Sign Linebacker Bryan Kehl

by Chuck Carroll

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins added depth at linebacker by signing unrestricted free agent Bryan Kehl on Monday.

Kehl, 6-foot-2 and 244 pounds, was selected in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the New York Giants following a successful college career at Brigham Young.

He appeared in 30 games with three starts, recording 28 tackles, one sack and an interception in two seasons with the team. The Giants released him after the first game of the 2010 season.

The St. Louis Rams then claimed him off waivers. The 27-year-old appeared in 28 games with two starts in St. Louis over the last two seasons.

Kehl logged one tackle against the Redskins in a Week 4 contest last season. In a 2010 contest against Washington he logged five tackles–his third single-game total that season.

Kehl has also been a solid contributor on special teams during his NFL career.

He is a native of Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
