Beltway Re-Opened After Fatal Early Morning Accident In Near Colesville Road

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The beltway is loosening up again, with the three left lanes of I-495’s Outer Loop at Colesville Road now open after a deadly car accident early Monday.

Cars were at a standstill for close to four hours with all lanes closed on the Outer Loop after Colesville Road and before Georgia Avenue.

When the accident occurred at 2:04 a.m. Monday, drivers were advised to take the InterCounty Connector to avoid the immovable congestion.

Maryland State Police say three people were taken to the hospital, but have not released details of the traffic fatality that occurred.

There were three cars involved and a Sysco double tractor-trailer.
