SILVER SPRING, Md. (CBSDC) — A fatal accident on the Outer Loop near Colesville Road early Monday morning was the 11th since February 2011.
After being involved in a collision just passed a construction zone, a man got out to observe the damage to his vehicle. He was then fatally struck by a passing tractor trailer and subsequently died.
Three lanes were closed for four hours, causing significant delays into the morning commute.
WNEW’s John Domen spoke with a AAA spokesman John Townsend who called the road “extremely dangerous,” while pointing out the current rate of fatalities on I-495 actually meant it was safer than it had previously been.
